Healthcare when you need it.

Healthcare is a fundamental human right, yet for too many families in California, it has become a luxury they can’t afford when they need it most.

The uninsured rate has dropped to 6.5% in California thanks to Medi-Cal and Covered California. While this is an improvement, it is proof that until we pass universal coverage, families will continue to slip through the cracks and face the pain of being uninsured, despite state and federal efforts to patch a broken for-profit system.

And what good is private insurance anyways if your co-pays are so high you still can’t see a doctor? We are the richest nation on earth, yet we spend twice as much as other countries only to see our life expectancy fall and our rural hospitals close. This is a crisis of priorities—Washington is choosing to fund endless wars while 15 million Americans are kicked off Medicaid. I’m running to change that, because healthcare isn’t just a policy issue; it’s a matter of economic justice and human dignity.

When I’m in Congress, I will work to ensure you have healthcare when and where you need it.

  • Establish Universal Healthcare: I support Medicare For All legislation. I will fight to expand Medicare to cover everyone, eliminating the private insurance middlemen who profit off our sickness.

  • Slash Prescription Costs: We will cap insulin at $20 and give the government the power to negotiate drug prices, ending the price-gouging that forces families to choose between medicine and rent.

  • Save Our Rural Hospitals: I will aggressively fund community health centers and expand telemedicine and mobile pharmacies to ensure those in our rural Northern California communities aren't left behind.

  • Protect Our Seniors: We must secure and increase Social Security benefits by finally removing the income cap on the wealthy, ensuring our elders can retire with the security they’ve earned.

  • End Predatory Billing: I will take on the hospitals and insurance companies that use "black box" pricing and predatory tactics to push working-class families into bankruptcy.

Instead of sending our tax dollars to fund destruction abroad, let’s reinvest that money at home to keep our hospitals open and our neighbors, co-workers, and family members healthy.
