Climate Resiliency
Climate change is an urgent crisis that directly threatens the economy, health, and future of Northern California. Time and time again, our district has faced the devastating impacts of extreme weather, from raging wildfires to catastrophic flooding. These events are not just environmental issues; they strain our resources and put lives at risk. It is time for Congress to act with urgency, transitioning the United States to a clean energy economy that creates good-paying green jobs right here in CA-02 while holding polluters accountable for the damage they’ve caused.
When I’m in Congress, I will:
Build a Clean Energy Future: I support the goal of reaching 100% clean, renewable energy nationwide by 2035 and will work to modernize our energy grid to support this transition.
End Fossil Fuel Subsidies: I will fight to end all subsidies for the fossil fuel industry and redirect those billions toward sustainable infrastructure and clean energy investments that benefit our local communities.
Invest in Climate Resilience: I will advocate for federal funding for emergency preparedness and flood control to protect our families and local businesses from the realities of a changing environment.
Support a Just Transition: I will champion green jobs and trades education to ensure that workers in traditional energy sectors have a path to high-paying, union jobs in the new green economy.
Empower the EPA: I will fight to fully fund the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce clean air and water standards, ensuring that disadvantaged communities are no longer disproportionately burdened by pollution.
Addressing the climate crisis is about more than just the environment—it’s about economic justice and public health. Together, we can make Northern California a leader in the green transition and ensure a safer, more prosperous future for all.
