Gratitude Mondays
Gratitude begins with heartfelt thanks to the many who voted for me in the primary. Your votes are priceless and a testament to our shared values and vision not just for our district but our country. You’re the foundation with which we will start building a more responsive and responsible representation in Congress.
Rose’s Kitchen Cabinet, my affectionately-titled advisory board, is truly a blessing. We’ve expanded from the original triumvirate of Cheryl, Norma, and Matty, with more like-minded activist-leaders in our district. The heart and soul that they put into their work for the campaign is invaluable. Every member embodies what we need to form a movement that will fight to have our voices heard and our needs met.
As you will shortly see, our website will be relaunched. This is a gift from our volunteer marketing and communications team. Sandra Stewart, CEO of ThinkShift, leads the team. She’s joined by her colleague, Sarah, and Pam Sufi, a marketing expert from our district. I believe that you will be suitably impressed and will love the new website as much as I do. Some of you have asked for a calendar to see what campaign events might be happening. We will have that capability on the new website. If you have events you want me to be at, please let me know .
I’m beyond grateful to be invited by the Sutter County Democratic Central Committee and Feather River Democratic Club to join them on their float for the Bok Kai parade. The parade occurs at the tail end of the Chinese New Year celebration in Marysville. It was wonderful to see so many people who were watching the parade be so receptive to our float and campaign handouts. Of course, it helped that we were handing out candy and American flags as well.
What was so encouraging, and unexpected in a red district like ours, was a good number of people gave us the thumbs up and shouted “We voted for you!” The challenge facing us forward is finding those similar minded folks who did not vote and turning them out for the general.
Moving forward, I’m grateful to Eleanore, Sharon, Joene, and Tammy who are spearheading a meet up of volunteers for Sutter and Yuba counties. We’ll be at the Sutter County Museum patio on May 10th, from 3:00-4:30 PST. Likewise to Matt and Jake for setting up a Lassen County meet-up on May 8th with details TBA. We’ll talk about our strategy for voter outreach leading to November. Please join us if you’re in the area. And reach out to me (together@roseforcongress.com) so that we can set up similar meet-ups in your county. Kathy of the Tehama County Dems is already working at getting it going for them in June. We need more!
On Saturday, May 11th, the Butte County Democratic Committee is hosting its annual fundraising dinner. I’m appreciative and honored to speak at the event and look forward to getting together with campaign supporters and friends. I’m also excited to get to know more of our Butte County Dems and hope to engage more to join and volunteer.
And after the rain and thunderstorms here in Redding last Saturday, I’m enjoying the bright Monday morning sunshine. Beautiful spring mornings truly underscore the need to preserve our environment for the generations ahead. This is one of the reasons we’re fighting an insurgent campaign for Congress. Let’s leave a legacy that our kids and grandkids could be proud of.
With a heart filled with gratitude and resolve to fight for our future,
Rose
