“Brian Rose is the Republican South Mississippi needs. He will fight against out of control spending and put a stop to the funding of the liberal agenda by career politicians like Steven Palazzo.”
It's time to put an end to the tax breaks being given to companies that take their business offshore. Instead, we must entice businesses to reshore or expand. We should only be rewarding companies that create jobs here and not overseas. South Mississippi is ripe for expansion. I will work with federal, state, and local governments to create an atmosphere that is attractive to some of the world's largest companies. Mississippi needs jobs and we CAN bring them here. I will also ensure Washington paves the way for small businesses to grow and flourish, instead of its current practice of standing in the way of growth.
Lowering the tax burden of South Mississippi families and families throughout the country is my one of my top priorities.
It is a mistake to think taxing and spending are two separate topics. They should always go hand in hand. If the government is going to take money out of our paychecks, we should at least know that money isn't being flushed down the toilet.
Our government is spending money that does not need to be spent. It's fraudulent, irresponsible, and down right shameful.
The money being taken from the paychecks of working Americans should be handled with the utmost respect, but that is not the case. Instead, career politicians are bowing down to their corporate donors and spending your money like it's their own. And our current Congressman is leading the way.
One way to curb spending is to balance our budget. If we required the government to only spend what it takes in, that would ensure we do not drive our country further into debt. There are some programs we fund that the country simply cannot afford and a balanced budget requirement will force Congress to make cuts they have previously been able to sidestep.
We are already $20 trillion in debt and, each year, we add more and more debt. This is not fair to our children and their children, who will be responsible for paying this debt with higher taxes.
As your Congressman, I will lead the charge towards a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
I will also lead the charge towards lowering your tax burdens. I am a proponent of Ted Cruz' Simple Flat Tax plan, which would eliminate the current seven rates of personal income tax and replace them with a flat ten percent rate. Under this plan, almost all middle class families would see an instant increase in the amount of money they get to keep from their paychecks.
It's time for the People to remind the government who they work for and whose money they are spending.
Oversight is not enough. We MUST do away with the fraud, waste, and abuse of our tax dollars and put the savings back into the pockets of the middle class.
Our current spending is wasteful and, more importantly, unsustainable. We must work towards a Balance Budget Amendment that will force government to live within its means. Congress has demonstrated time and time again its unwillingness to make tough spending decisions on its own, which is why it is important we have an Amendment put into place that prohibits Congress from spending more than the country takes in.
We must eliminate "use it or lose it" budgeting. This is perhaps the most wasteful and fraudulent spending practices happening in our government. If a government office or agency does their job efficiently, they get punished. Any unspent money would be eliminated from their next year's budget. This leads to a frantic spending spree that happens throughout the government on the last week of the fiscal year. The amount of wasteful and fraudulent purchases made during that week is disgusting. We should be rewarding government workers for being efficient, rather than punishing them.
Earmarked programs in all fifty states must be curbed. It's time we stop spending tax payer money just to please special interest groups.
The fraud and waste must come to an end. In Congress, I will be the taxpayer's watchdog. Unlike our current representation, I will make a pledge not to fund bloated government programs that serve the needs of special interests more than the needs of our citizens.
President Obama's Affordable Healthcare Plan has turned out to be anything but "affordable" for our citizens and the government. Insurance premiums are skyrocketing and, as the rest of this horrific act falls into place, so will our taxes.
Despite bragging about his votes to repeal and defund Obacare dozens of times, Steven Palazzo not only voted yes to the spending bills that fully funded Obamacare, he also become the spokesperson for the bills. As Assistant Whip, he convinced other Republicans to also fund Obamacare, but that wasn’t all. He also convinced them to fund Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.
We MUST repeal and replace Obamacare with a healthcare system that allows insurance companies to compete across state lines. Competition always breeds higher quality service and lower prices.
I am a veteran of the Somalia and Bosnia conflicts and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). I know the burden war places on our troops and their families. We must not send another Airmen, Soldier, Sailor, or Marine into harm's way, without first having a clear picture of what the mission is and what the exit plan is. Defeating ISIS needs to be a top priority for our military, but we need leaders in Congress that will ensure the missions for our troops are sound. We must end the practice of playing it by ear and leaving our men and women deployed in battle for years and with no end in sight.
Keesler Air Force Base, the Naval Construction Battalion Center, and Stennis Space Center house and employ tens of thousands of dedicated young men and women. They are the pride and joy of South Mississippi and we must keep their missions alive. I will work with the Mississippi Congressional Delegation to ensure these bases remain a part of our landscape and economy for generations to come.
Our nation's Navy and Marine Corp have come to rely of Ingalls Shipbuilding to produce the finest fleet of ships the world has ever seen. I will work together with the other members of the Mississippi Delegation to continue bringing lucrative contracts home to South Mississippi.
Make no mistake about it, our country would not exist if it weren't for the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and their families. We owe it to these brave citizens to live up to the promises we made to them.
As a veteran of two conflicts, I will do what it takes to make sure my brothers and sisters in arms receive the quality care they deserve. The bureaucrats in Washington need to be reigned in. Instead of spending 20 million dollars on artwork, administrators of the VA should be using that money to provide care for the folks that need it. I will fight to stop wasteful spending of money that should be used on the healthcare of our veterans.
South Mississippi proudly serves as the home of several military installations. Many who have served in our state, including myself, have made the choice to continue living and retire here. My goal is for each an every one of these veterans to receive the respect and care they so rightfully deserve.
We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. We must enforce the immigration laws of our land, while ensuring those who want to come here legally have the opportunity to do so. As Ronald Reagan envisioned, our walls should have doors. We must create a proper safe vetting system that is efficient and keeps the door open to those seeking a better life in America. Our borders need to be protected from all those choosing to enter our country illegally, bring drugs to our neighborhoods, or have the intention of causing us harm. Sanctuary cities must lose all federal funding and these cities must be held accountable for breaking the law.
The Second Amendment rights of our citizens must never be infringed upon. I am a card carrying member of the NRA that will stand up and fight to protect our rights to own and carry firearms.
Thomas Jefferson was an adamant supporter of term limits in the House of Representatives. Congressional seats were given a short term of just two years. They were meant to be filled with representatives from districts throughout the country. People that worked and lived in their communities. They would go to Washington with the message of their neighbors, create laws based on those messages, and then return to the community to live under the very laws they created.
But somewhere along the way, we lost that. Career politicians are camping out in congress, often times for decades. We don't even see our own Congressman Palazzo around the district anymore. He swoops in around election time and then it's the first plane back to Washington. He is no longer a member of our community. He has essentially changed his address to Washington D.C. and no longer is a representative of what the community wants. He creates laws and votes on measures without the input of his neighbors and without ever having to live or do business under those laws.
Palazzo will have you believe he is for term limits. He'll even tell you about how he championed the idea by introducing a term limits bill to the House floor. What he won’t tell you is that bill did not limit the time a congressman or senator could serve. It merely forced them to take a few months off every twelve years. Under Palazzo’s legislation, we would still have members of congress serving decades.
It is time we put an end to filling congress with people that put their own careers ahead of the interest of their districts. It's time for term limits.
I am PRO-Life and I will fight night and day to ensure not a single penny of our tax dollars goes to fund Planned Parenthood or any abortion related clinics or services.
